Detection limitations

Mbox speaks eligible UPI notifications — it does not replace your bank app. Read these limits before you rely on the counter phone.

Core trust rule

Detected notifications are operational alerts, not verified settlements. Always confirm funds in your UPI or bank application when the amount matters.

What can block or skip an announcement

  • Only allowlisted payment apps and reviewed notification formats are parsed.
  • Outgoing payments, failures, and ambiguous formats are not announced as incoming credit.
  • Background operation can be restricted by Android OEM battery policies.
  • TTS requires installed language voice data on the device.
  • Cloud sync requires an authorized device and an eligible subscription entitlement.
  • Detected notifications are never treated as bank settlement confirmations by default.

Supported scope

Parsers cover reviewed formats from supported apps (for example PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm where allowlisted). App updates can change notification text — Mbox may need a parser update before those formats speak again.

Device & Android reality

  • Notification access must stay granted for the soundbox device
  • Aggressive OEM battery savers can pause background listeners
  • Volume, DND, and missing TTS language packs affect what you hear
  • Unauthorized or revoked devices will not sync cloud events
